SCALABLE COMMUNICATIONS TO PROVIDE NEXT GENERATION JUNIPER LAN TO LIVERPOOL WOMEN'S NHS FOUNDATION TRUST

28th September 2009 - Scalable Communications, the leading independent provider of secure, best of breed converged solutions, have been awarded the contract to design, supply and maintain its Local Area Network (LAN) and Security system.

In 1995, the Trust’s new £30M hospital for women and babies was launched, concentrating the three hospitals’ historic capabilities in one establishment. In time the Trust absorbed the Aintree Centre for Women’s Health - which provided gynaecology and antenatal care - and, in 2005, became Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust: the first trust in Merseyside to achieve foundation status.

When Scalable first met with Liverpool Women’s Hospital (LWH), it was clear that they required a resilient, high speed, high bandwidth, low latency LAN to support the current and future requirements of the Trust.
 
In order to support critical applications such as the Trusts new IP Telephony, PACS and new patient entertainment system, allowing internet and video to the patient’s bedside, the Trust required a solution that provided them with maximum uptime, high bandwidth and resilient connection.

Frank Richmond, Director – Strategic & New Business of Scalable Communications explained “Having proposed a Juniper Networks solution based on the new EX Series of switches we were confident to meet the Trusts requirement. We also proposed Juniper Firewalls to secure the Trust’s infrastructure against any threats and their SA (SSL VPN) product to provide remote connectivity to the trusts network, all enabling us to meet the trusts requirement for 99.999 uptime.”
